Admiral Sanders is a psychologist who was licensed in 1972 and is still practicing part-time today. Though he has been in private practice since 1976, he also spent 27 years working in a treatment center for emotionally disturbed youth. In 2004, he walked from Virginia Beach to San Francisco with the help of his wife, Dotty, who drove and did many other jobs. This helped him fulfill a 50 year dream that began when he was in high school. It also changed the focus of his work to healthy and involved aging. He plans to live all the way to the end of the road, really live. In line with that, he has completed 82 full marathons. Injuries have slowed his marathon but he has completed 3 half marathons in the past year despite 2 injuries and physical therapy regimes. He works 3 days per week, attends the theatre and concerts regularly, and is involved in a local church where he still gets to play trumpet on Sunday morning. His passion for healthy aging led him to work with his son and daughter in law to write the 60 Minute Guide to Fabulous Aging. His calling in life now is to be an example to those coming behind that a fulfilling life is possible as we age for most people if they embrace a healthy lifestyle.
